Lindsay Rice brought home two podiums, a 2nd and a 3rd in class, for the PCA event races.
This past weekend Lindsay Rice and the Rice Racing team competed in the annual CanAm Challenge hosted by Porsche Club of America at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
After a busy and successful weekend at the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy races the previous weekend, Rice took to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park yet again Saturday morning to compete within the PCA Club Racing series.
The schedule for the PCA CanAm Challenge consisted of two 45-minute sprint races on Saturday and one 1.5 hour endurance race on Sunday.
Due to conflicts of schedule, the team was unable to qualify for Race One and instead used Race One on Saturday morning as a qualification session to set their fastest time for the grid for Race Two. Race Within PCA rules, Race One was not to be counted towards PCA championship points, so this decision would not affect the team's standings for the weekend.
Lindsay Rice went out for 20 minutes in Race One with the goal of qualifying with a quick lap to give her a competitive place for Race Two. She was able to set down a qualifying time that landed her fourth in class for Race Two that afternoon.
Lindsay Rice advanced in her class during Race Two and landed herself a third place amongst her competitors. She placed 11th overall in the field, only to find herself behind multiple Porsche GT3 Cup cars and Porsche's modified much more heavily than her 911.
The endurance race on Sunday turned out to be very interesting for Rice Racing. Due to changes in the schedule, the race was moved up a half hour that morning – to begin at 1030am instead of the original 1100am start. The Rice Racing team was not aware of the time change for their endurance race, and realized that their field was on track shortly after the green flag was waved.
Arriving to the grid roughly 15 minutes into the race, Lindsay Rice made the decision to throw her gear on and take off in the Rice Racing Porsche 911 to attempt to compete.
Even though the team had a major disadvantage in the endurance race, Lindsay Rice grabbed a second in class win, which brought the longest battle that Rice had endured in her racing career so far.
Having spent the past two weekends racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park competing, Lindsay Rice now looks forward to taking her racing to the province of Quebec. She will be competing with the Canadian Touring Car series this coming weekend at the famous Grand Prix Trois-Rivieres in her Porsche 911.
