Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy - The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 program continues to progress toward its first season in North America with the addition of Paul Miller Racing to its customer team lineup.

Paul Miller Racing has confirmed its intent to participate in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GT Daytona (GTD) class. This addition comes after Super Trofeo teams Change Racing, O'Gara Motorsport and Konrad Motorsport announced their intent to race the Huracán GT3 in North America.

"We are excited to add Paul Miller Racing to our Lamborghini lineup for 2016," Automobili Lamborghini Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna said. "The GT3 is the pinnacle of our racing strategy and we expect a team with their experience and success in North American sportscar racing, along with our other customer teams, to raise the level of competition and elevate Lamborghini Squadra Corse in North America."

Team Owner Paul Miller has a wealth of experience as a driver and owner. He competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times and in the 24 Hours At Daytona nine times, topping the GTO class in 1988 at Daytona. This experience has translated to continued team success, including two top-three GTD finishes in the last two years.

"All of us at Paul Miller Racing are excited to be partnering with Lamborghini in its inaugural season of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition in 2016," Miller said. "We believe our passion to win and our expertise in U.S. racing fits well with Lamborghini's long-term goals. We have followed the progress of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 very closely in Europe this year, and the development and engineering of this race car has been significant and impressive. We fully expect the Huracán to be a GTD contender from the onset of the season and, as a team, we are very confident in our ability and familiarity with a mid-engine platform after our last two successful seasons of competition."

The official North American racing debut of the Huracán GT3 is scheduled for the 24 Hours At Daytona on Jan. 30-31 with multiple customer teams, including Paul Miller Racing, continuing Lamborghini Squadra Corse's tradition of customer support.

Lamborghini's projected move into GTD comes as the class adopts the 2016 FIA GT3 specifications for all of its entries.

The 585-horsepower Huracán GT3 was born from a desire to offer factory-built and supported cars to customers worldwide. It is the first GT3 car to be fully engineered, developed and assembled internally by Automobili Lamborghini.

The move to GT3 racing in North America is the exciting next step as the Lamborghini Motorsport program continues to build its racing ladder. The GT3 program is the top step of an impressive pyramid, which includes Lamborghini Esperienza and Accademia and three Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series worldwide.

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 will be introduced in both North America and Asia, after having already proven itself in Europe this season running in the Blancpain Endurance Series with Grasser Racing Team, where it has won the season opener at Monza (Italy) in April.

Driver announcements for all four Lamborghini customer teams hoping to vie for a GTD championship in 2016 will come as the Huracán GT3 are delivered to the teams and testing begins in the next few weeks.
