Bowmanville, Ontario - Sundays running of the Pintys Clarington 200 saw Steckly foiled again in his attempt for a road course win. After leading the most laps last turn contact from the car behind took Steckly out of contention for the win.

Steckly arrived at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with one goal in mind and that was to take their Canadian Tire Dodge in victory lane. Pre-season testing at this facility gave them some good information, resulting in them being quick right off the trailer. Steckly was scored fifth quickest in practice and they backed that up with a third place qualifying effort.

“We spent a lot of time working on our road course program in the off season,” said Steckly before the race. “We have had fast cars in the past but they have always been a handful to drive. This car has great balance and we were really happy with the speed we have been able to achieve.”

Sunday would see twenty seven cars take the green flag with Steckly rolling off on the inside of row two, a position he maintained for the early part of the race. After pit stops for tires and fuel cycled through Steckly took over the lead, a position we would hold until the last turn of the last lap when contact from behind resulted in a 5th place finish. “I am really disappointed for my team who work so hard and all of our sponsors,” said Steckly after the race. “We had the car to beat and just couldn’t close the deal. In the grand scheme of things our finish of fifth is still a good start to the year as we go for our fourth championship.”
