The Rice Racing team and driver Lindsay Rice travelled to Three Rivers, Quebec to compete with the Canadian Touring Car Championship this past weekend.

Lindsay Rice was one of the 32 drivers in the CTCC presented by Continental Tire field at the ever-famous GP3R racing event, which hosted Rounds 10 and 11 of the championship schedule.

With the CTCC season being led into its final rounds of the season, competitors delivered tough battles and raw competitive 16081801bperformance for the 80,000 passionate GP3R race fans.

The GP3R schedule had CTCC presented by Continental Tire series on track for three sessions on Friday, including practice, qualifying, and the opening race; Round 10. Saturday hosted Round 11 of the season in the afternoon, the second competitive race for the weekend.

Lindsay Rice took to the track on Friday in her #18 Rice Racing Porsche 911 for her first ever session in the Grand Touring class with CTCC.

With this also being Rice’s first time ever on the GP3R circuit, she was quick to adapt her driving to the corner-ridden, concrete-surrounded circuit in Three Rivers, QC. Caught in some wet weather on Friday, the first session brought the need for rain tires for the CTCC field.

Being on rain tires in the 911 on an almost dry track, this created a tough situation with less than average traction leading to minimal grip levels for Rice. Despite the odds not being in the drivers’ favor, the session did bring Lindsay success in setting some strong, fast-paced laps.

That afternoon, around 4:45pm, the qualifying session was underway. Lindsay went and the CTCC field adventured on track for the second time that day, and Rice’s second ever session with the field. Rice’s goal was to set down fast laps to land her a top position in her class for the pre-race grid.

After 15 minutes into qualifying, the circuit went yellow and all cars came into pit lane. Waiting on a vehicle to be pulled off of track, Rice had done a decent enough time to land her 6th in class for Race One so far. Wanting to bring down her qualifying times even more, Lindsay and her team decided it would be best to get a few more laps in before the end of the session, as Lindsay’s driving times on the circuit were only getting faster.

Unfortunately, after only two laps out after the yellow, Lindsay had a minor incident in turn 8 and was out for the remainder of the qualifying session. With not enough time to fix the 911 Carrera by Race One at 8pm that evening, or the race at 3pm the following day, Lindsay was out of the races for the remainder of the GP3R weekend.

Although Lindsay Rice was unable to compete, she still cheered on her fellow competitors in their twin challenges at the GP3R. Lindsay Rice was also active in the off-track events with CTCC, including the Canadian Touring Car Championship autograph session on Saturday. With a turn-out of almost 200 people surrounding the CTCC autograph table, Rice was able to meet and spend some time with many passionate, enthusiastic race fans.

Although it was an unfortunate end to the GP3R weekend, Lindsay Rice and the Rice Racing team will fix the damages and get it back on track for the next race.

Lindsay Rice and the Rice Racing team now look forward to the BEMC Indian Summer races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on September 16-18th with Canadian Automobile Sports Club. This will be the fifth round of races for the Race Ontario Championship, which Lindsay currently sits 3rd place in her class overall for both GT Challenge and GT Sprints series.
