Zandvoort, The Netherlands – Following its 6th and 8th place finishes obtained yesterday, the young Montréal born racer Kami Laliberté completed the best weekend of his young career in the German Formula 4 championship with a victory this morning on the Dutch Zandvoort circuit, located along the North sea to the west of Amsterdam. This success came complete a program where the Van Amersfoort Racing team driver has gathered points in all three races on the schedule.

This morning at Zandvoort, the race was launched under rainy conditions and the stewards had to stop it after five laps. Under the regulation, the race has lasted long enough to be homologated. Starting behind the safety car from the 3rd place on the grid, Laliberté climbed into second place overtaking the driver in 2nd place after this same safety car has returned to the pit lane. Then, later on lap 4, pressuring the leader, the Canadian saw him go off track and then claim the lead.

"I am very happy to have finally been able to cast a win. The conditions were difficult, it was tricky. But what I'm proud of is that I have been able to deal with the situation, avoiding spins, keeping the car on track and making the right moves at the right time. It's a win and I'm happy for my team who never stopped supporting me. I would now like to record other ones, this time in good conditions. I will prepare myself to do well in a few weeks at Hockenheim," said the driver who registered 24.5 point this weekend. For his win, because of the short duration of the race, half of the 25 points normally awarded to the winner went to Laliberté.

In the German Formula 4 championship, the Canadian driver now has a rendezvous with the famed Hockenheim circuit to enter the last round of his season on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 30, October 1 and 2. Laliberté knows well the course which hosted earlier this summer the Formula 1 German Grand Prix for having disputed three races of the last program of this same championship in 2015. There, he earned 8th and 10th place finishes, earning it his first career points.

Returning to the current season, one must note that with his weekend results, the young Canadian driver currently ranks 13th in the standings, with one eye on the 10th within reach.
