BGR Piper Racecars is pleased to have 3rd year driver, Ben Hurst back with the team in a transition season. The 2015 Toyo Tires Rookie of the Year is fresh off his first win at the season opening SCCA Majors event at Homestead Speedway in Florida. Ben will compete alongside BGR teammate Roman De Angelis at Virginia International Raceway in just a few weeks, as the pair look to qualify for the SCCA National Championship Run Offs held later this season at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hurst is currently studying at the University of Manchester in England and will build his season around his schooling schedule. The 2017 season will see him compete in not only the SCCA Championships but will also include rounds of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, the Formula Tour F1600 Championship as well as testing with BGR's English connection Cliff Dempsey Racing. Looking to the future, Ben is slated to test the new USF2000 Tatuus with BGR with RTD Autosport.

"I am very pleased to keep Ben under the BGR awning. He started with us as a complete newbie and has made such great progress and is poised to take the next step. The 2017 season started with a new confidence and his big win in Florida showed he is ready to challenge for wins and podiums whenever he climbs into his BGR Piper DL7/Quicksilver Honda. We have an interesting schedule tailored for Ben to compliment his University education overseas. I was happy to pair Ben with our good friend Cliff Dempsey and believe the experience he gains with CDR will help Ben gain more track time." comments team owner Brian Graham.

The BGR team heads to VIR mid-April for the SCCA Super Tour Majors event with Hurst and De Angelis prior to the pair making their Canadian season openers in May. Seats are still available for select events and interested parties can contact the team for more info.

BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory supported team of the popular chassis which is built in California, USA. The all new Piper DL7 debuted in 2014 and grabbed its first win at CTMP winning the Al Craighead CanAm Cup. BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in OFFC history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year 10 of the last 11 years. With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
