It seems luck is starting to turn around for Jordan Latimer as he posted his third top-10 of the season on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
The sophomore driver started off the night by posting the 16th quickest time during time trials at 15.531 seconds.
Starting in 16th for the first feature, the sophomore driver worked at making ground from the green flag, running 11th as of the first caution flag at Lap 3. Latimer got a good restart, moving into the top-10 at Lap 14. He’d fall back a spot to 11th with 10 laps to go, but didn’t give up, escaping the trouble on the restart to move up to the eighth spot. Latimer continued to make ground, battling Nick Goetz for seventh at Lap 29. Ultimately, he was unable to complete the pass, completing the 35-lap feature in the eighth spot.
Starting fifth for the second feature, Latimer moved up to third on the initial start, though would slowly start to fade through the field, running seventh with 22 laps to go. Fighting the handling, Latimer continued to fade as he ran 10th with 18 laps to go, continuing to fade back to battle Brittney Gresel for 13th at Lap 24. Ultimately, the second feature didn’t go in Latimer’s favor as he’d cross the finish line in the 14th position.
Latimer and JL Motorsports will hope for another strong run this coming weekend on September 10.
