Stroud, Ontario - The Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds travelled up the 400 to the remarkable Sunset Speedway for round 2 of their 2015 season on Saturday, May 23. During the three afternoon practice sessions, Jason Keen (No.18), Ron Easton (No.00), Jeremy Riopelle (No.88) and Steve Trendell (No.57) showed they had the cars to contend for the feature win.
The first heat race was no contest as Easton ran away with the victory by a straightaway over Riopelle and Brian Atkinson (No.92). Keen won the second heat and was followed closely by Trendell and TJ Marshall (No.15).
Keen and Easton paced the field to the green flag for the 25-lap feature. At the drop of the green, Keen jumped out to the early lead with Easton right on his bumper. On lap 7, Easton dropped off the pace with overheating issues. As Keen was leading, Marshall slipped into second as Trendell quicklyclosed the gap for the runner-up spot. On lap 15, Trendell cleared Marshall and set his sights on Keen’s No.18. With the gap slowly closing, Trendell got his wish as a caution flew on lap 23. Trendell lined up outside of Keen for the final restart. The two drivers battled hard for the next two laps before Keen edged Trendell for his first feature win of 2015.
