Peterborough, Ontario – Saturdays Pinty's 250 would be the final event of the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season and Steckly was prepared for a top finish to end the season in the Canadian Tire/AW Millwrights Dodge.

Practice started the day as planned as by the time second practice was complete the 22 Racing Dodge was on the top of the scoring charts. "We have always run well here," said Steckly after practice. "Now we have to back it up in qualifying and the race."

With twenty three cars entered, qualifying up front would be crucial for the 250 lap event. Steckly hoped to make it two in a row as he put the Canadian Tire Dodge on the pole in 2013 and went on to win the event. When the final car had completed the timed session, Steckly was credited with the third quickest time. "We aren't worried about starting third," said Steckly. "They don't award points for qualifying and I think we have a car that can win tonight."

Steckly's patient style would again prove beneficial as he found a good pace during the early laps. Prior to pit stops for tires, Steckly was able to take the lead for several laps. When pit stops cycled through the 22 Racing Team driver restarted second. During the final fifty laps and after several cautions, Steckly was unable to get past leader J.R. Fitzpatrick and settled for a second place podium position. "We brought a strong car here again this year," said Steckly after the race. "We know this track well but we needed a long green flag run at the end and maybe we would have had a chance at J.R. As usual my crew came to win tonight and gave me a car that could contend. We just came up one spot short."

The second place finish moved Steckly up two positions in the final NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 standings to fourth.

The Pinty's 250 from Kawartha Speedway will air Sat. Oct. 4th at 1:30 p.m. ET on TSN and Wed. Oct. 15th at 9:30 p.m. on RDS2.
