Stouffville resident James Vance will compete alongside some of the biggest stars of NASCAR, IndyCar and IMSA in his first Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona on Jan. 24-25, the most prestigious event in North American sports car racing.

Vance, 21, will take the next, and biggest, step in his young racing career with Performance Tech Motorsports. The team finished third in the Prototype Challenge class in 2014 at Daytona with four rookies in the car, a testament to the team's reputation for developing young drivers into race winners.

Competing in the Rolex 24 in an open-cockpit prototype is just half of Vance's story at Daytona. He will perform double-duty, also racing in a street-based Porsche Cayman in the Street Tuner class for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge BMW Performance 200 on the 3.56-mile road course at Daytona. The hectic back-to-back practices will challenge him in two very different types of race cars, as the weekend schedule is an endurance test.

The Rolex 24 begins at 2:10 p.m. (ET) Saturday, Jan. 24, finishing 24 hours later. The BMW Performance 200 starts at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23.
