David Richert got the opportunity to test a GP 2 car.
Cologne, Germany – After making significant progress throughout the first part of the race season, Inter Europol Competition recently invited Canadian race car driver, David Richert, to try out their 600 horsepower GP2 race car at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
Next to Formula 1, the GP2 championship is the highest level of single-seater racing in Europe and arguably on par with the North American based IndyCar Series. At a top speed of 320km/h, carbon disc brakes capable of subjecting a driver to experience almost 4 G under braking, and a "0 to 100km/h" time of just 2.9 seconds, the GP2 race car is one of the quickest racing machines on the planet.
"There are very few people who get an opportunity to drive a car like this so I feel incredibly privileged to have been given this chance. I need to say a big thank you to everyone at Inter Europol Competition for allowing me to enjoy this experience in their GP2 car as I know it's a very expensive undertaking. Having this experience pushes me to work even harder in the hopes I can compete in these type of cars on a regular basis within the next year or two." - David Richert
Richert has spent this season driving Inter Europol Competition's Formula Renault 2.0 race car throughout Europe, including several races in the highly competitive Northern European Cup.
"We are happy with the progress David has made over the last few months. He has limited experience and a relatively small budget when compared with the other drivers he's competing against, but his professional attitude and desire to succeed have helped him through the learning process. If he can overcome the financial obstacles facing him, we see no reason why David cannot advance into the highest levels of motorsport." - Jorg Kranzfelder, Inter Europol Competition (Engineer)
Inter Europol Competition is currently running their GP2 car in the BOSS GP championship. David Richert's next race will be in the Northern European Cup with Inter Europol's Formula Renault 2.0 race car from Aug 29 - 31 at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
"David Richert is a farm-kid turned professional race car driver from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. While continuing to work on his family's farm close to Niverville, Richert began cutting his teeth by racing karts in Gimli, Manitoba. He was then selected by Volkswagen as one of the top young race car drivers in North America and competed in the VW Jetta TDI Cup. After building the business side of his racing career, and bringing on board several prominent Canadian business leaders as investors, Richert is set to tackle the highest levels of racing. Richert currently lives in Cologne, Germany, while racing with Inter Europol Competition.
