13 Time Canadian Superbike Champion Jordan Szoke claimed maximum points for the Canadian Superbike Invitational Round 1 hosted by Pro6 at the beautiful Calabogie Motorsports Park located just outside of our Nation’s capital in Ottawa ON.

With the world emerging slowly from COVID lockdown the Canadian Superbike Championship returned to racing for the first time in over eleven months with a one-day, two race, invitational at Calabogie Motorsports Park.

Szoke claimed pole position earlier that day as the 17 rider grid filtered out behind him. Just hours later Jordan lead race number one of the day start-to-finish by four seconds over the rest of the field.

“I got a really good start – I was actually a little shocked at the start I got, to be honest – but that just allowed me to chip away at the pace and stay consistent,” Szoke said. “I’ve always enjoyed the heat, but it’s almost Suzuka hot out here. We’re running very little traction control, so that might be something we look at for race two later on.”

Szoke retreated to the air conditioning of the trailer while his crew prepared his General Warranty Kawasaki ZX-10R for race number two at the end of the day.

Szoke once again lead every lap across the line during race two narrowly defeating veteran rider Jeff Williams in dramatic fashion.

“I did my best lap of the weekend and the gap still went to plus-zero, so I knew Jeff was flying back there,” Szoke said. “I just tried to run a consistent race and keep the lead, and my last lap ended up being my fastest which just shows you the level of the bike.”

Jordan leaves Calabogie Motorsports Park with 104 points currently leading the Canadian Superbike Championship. With COVID restrictions rapidly lifting as provinces across the country shift into different stages, the championship schedule remains at the mercy of what is allowable.

“I felt it was very important for us as racers to participate.” says Szoke. “We played smart, and safe. The organizers did their best last minute to provide us something to compete in and our Canadian Motorsports fans something to watch. We need to support that to keep our sport alive.
