Hamilton, Ontario – Monaghan Motorsports is the newest partner in Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation’s Care4 program. NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) driver Trevor Monaghan is proud to officially announce the “Care4 MacKids” race team. This program is designed to raise awareness and funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.

Monaghan is seeking corporate partners to ensure a successful 2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series racing season and to help create a positive connection between all the “Care4 MacKids” team partners, the NASCAR community, McMaster Children’s Hospital and their patients.

McMaster Children’s Hospital is the fourth largest inpatient pediatric hospital in Canada, and second in Ontario, serving a population of 2.3 million people, including 600,000 children. It offers the only dedicated pediatric emergency centre and cancer treatment program in the region, and is home to Ontario’s largest neonatal intensive care unit and one of Canada’s largest pediatric inpatient mental health units.

As a resident of Hamilton with five children, Monaghan has always had a desire to assist McMaster Children’s Hospital. Combining his passion for racing and supporting children’s health programs seemed to be a perfect fit. Throughout the 2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season, Monaghan and the “Care4 MacKids” race team will develop and participate in fundraising initiatives to ensure that necessary equipment, furnishings and programs are provided for families served by McMaster Children’s Hospital for years to come.

For the past few seasons, Monaghan has run the number 13; however this year he will return to running the number 4 to further show his support of the “Care4 MacKids” program.

As governments do not fund equipment in hospitals, proceeds from the Care4 program, along with other Foundation initiatives, provide essential support for priority equipment needs and education. The “Care4 MacKids” race team provides an opportunity for socially-conscious businesses to sponsor Monaghan Motorsports, and while doing so, to support Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation. Monaghan Motorsports, while racing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, will donate 5% of sponsorships achieved to McMaster Children’s Hospital.

“We are grateful to Trevor Monaghan for his commitment to the Care4 program, and in turn to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and our goal of Health Care, Transformed,” said Tamara Pope, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation. “It is with the support of individuals, like Trevor and Monaghan Motorsports, that we are able to continue to raise awareness about the role we play in supporting children’s health care across the region. We wish Trevor a successful season and appreciate all his efforts to raise awareness and funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital.”

"I'm very excited about the partnership with McMaster Children's Hospital,” said Monaghan. “My eight-year-old spent some time there when he was a baby and they took great care of him, so this is personal to me and I'm very happy to be able to give something back to them."
