Caistor Centre, Ontario - Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan brought their Team Turner Racing Sprint Cars to three different tracks during the Victoria Day holiday weekend.

MAY 15 - OHSWEKEN

Jamie, Cory, and Ryan, and the team kicked off the weekend at Ohsweken Speedway, where 22 drivers signed in for the first race of the track's 20th anniversary season. The track was tacky and fast with a treacherous rut in the first turn.

All three TTR drivers transferred to the feature through their heat races, but didn't gain enough passing points to qualify for the redraw for feature starting positions. They were able to make a few moves in the 25 lap feature, as Jamie went from 13th to 9th, Ryan went from 14th to 11th, and Cory went from 15th to 13th.

"It was pretty tough sledding on a hammer-down race track, but we were happy our cars showed some decent speed over the course of the evening," Cory said.

MAY 16 - BRIGHTON

Saturday night found Team Turner at Brighton Speedway, 250 kilometres east of Ohsweken, where 23 drivers signed in for the 20th15052202b anniversary season of Southern Ontario Sprints tour racing.

Jamie finished 3rd in his heat race to garner a redraw spot, while Cory just missed the redraw. Ryan's rookie status relegated him to the back row for the start of his heat race, and he wasn't able to advance. Jamie started 4th in the feature and ran in the top 5 for most of the race before falling back to 6th at the end. Ryan started 19th and moved up inside the top 15 until a last corner spin resulted in an 18th place finish.

"I started 12th in the feature and was up racing with my Dad for a good portion of the race, which is always fun!" Cory said. "I hit an implement tire coming out of turn two with a few laps to go, and it definitely upset the car a lot. I lost a few spots, and was able to bring the car home in 10th.

"The track had a lot of moisture in it early in the race, and was very racy all night. We were happy with our cars, and definitely made them faster between the heat race and the A-Main."

MAY 17 - HUMBERSTONE

The team made the 300 kilometre trek from Brighton to Humberstone Speedway near Port Colborne, Ontario on Sunday night to complete in the 2nd half of the SOS doubleheader weekend. 25 drivers signed in, and were greeted with tricky track conditions.

15052202c"I started 2nd in my heat, and had a tough time getting the handle on by far the roughest track I've ever experienced," Cory said. "I finished 4th, leaving me out of the redraw by one position."

Jamie and Ryan finished 5th in their respective heat races, and also missed the redraw. Jamie's feature race ended early when he was collected in a crash, leaving his #11 too damaged to continue. Cory fought through the rough track conditions to finish 11th after starting 13th.

"My brother had the most impressive performance of the evening, finishing 12th from his 20th place starting spot," Cory said. "(Ryan) passed cars on the top and the bottom, including a couple while pulling a wheelie through the bumps!"

UP NEXT

All three TTR drivers will be back at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, May 22.

"This week we are back working hard in the shop to get ready for week number two at Ohsweken," said Cory. "(It's) our only scheduled race of the weekend. We will try to improve on last week's finishes!"

All three TTR drivers have scored points in three different 360 Sprint Car championships - Ohsweken's weekly Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division, the Southern Ontario Sprints tour, and the Patriot Sprint Tour Canada series:
