Steckly family support Milverton Fights Back Annual Cancer Fundraising Campaign weekend

Milverton, Ontario – Event number two on the eleven race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 2015 schedule is set to take place this Saturday evening at Autodrome Chaudiere in Valle-Jonction Quebec and Scott Steckly is ready to go.

This is the second visit to this tight high banked ¼ mile race track where Steckly posted a fourth place finish in the inaugural event in 2014. “I’m looking forward to going back to Chaudiere,” said Steckly from his Milverton race shop. “I think we may have figured out this track during the late going last year after struggling at the start, but we’ll see on Saturday night.”

Steckly is one of three drivers making history this weekend when they take to the track for the Budweiser 300. It will be the 100th NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 event and he is one of only three drivers who will have made all 100 starts. “It’s a milestone for sure,” said Steckly. “I never thought I would be racing at this high a level when I started back in 1992. A bunch of us took a car to the track and decided to give it a try and we didn’t even know who the driver was going to be when we got there. Things have certainly changed.”

While Steckly is off racing in Valle-Jonction this weekend, his wife Penny is at home supporting a local cause that their family hold dear. The Milverton Fights Back Cancer Fundraising Campaign has been running for 12 years. “I’m normally on hand for this event and I bring out the race car and we help to raise funds for the local Huron Perth Canadian Cancer Society,” said Steckly. “Penny has been involved for several years but this year she is representing me as well. Penny will be selling Yellow Ribbon Stickers that will be put on the hood of my race car for the Sunset Speedway NASCAR event on June 20th. A lot of Milverton residents will be on hand at that event and will get to see their names on the hood of the car as they cheer us on. One lucky bidder will be receiving the hood off the car after the race at Sunset as the hood will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during the Milverton Fights Back weekend activities. The ribbons are $10 each and we hope to completely cover the hood around the Canadian Tire triangle”.

The 22 Racing Team is supported by Canadian Tire, MAXIMUM Tools, Mobil 1, Erb Group, AW Millwrights, Reefer Sales & NOCO Lubricants.
