Caistor Centre, Ontario - Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan competed in Sprint Car events at two different race tracks last weekend, and scored points in three different championship chases.

JUNE 19 - OHSWEKEN

The weekend began at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, where 28 competitors signed in for the Patriot Sprint Tour's annual challenge race with the track's Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division.

Jamie and Cory both gained transfer spots to the 25 lap Feature in their heat races, while Ryan was forced to run the B-Main, and used a provisional spot to start the Feature.

"In the feature we all moved forward and were pretty happy with our cars on a rough race track," Cory said. "I started 18th and finished 9th, my dad started 12th and finished 10th, and my brother passed the most cars, starting 24th on the grid and coming home 14th!

"I felt as though I had a car capable of a top five...I just didn't accumulate enough passing points in the heat race to get a decent (Feature) starting spot."

All three TTR drivers are in the top ten in the PST Canada series standings following the Ohsweken event, while Cory and Jamie are also in the top five of the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division points.

JUNE 20 - BRIGHTON

Saturday morning was hectic as the team got ready to make the 250 kilometre trek east to Brighton Speedway for the fourth Southern Ontario Sprints event of the season. A huge crowd was on hand for the event, which also featured the World of Outlaws Late Model series, and Brighton's Canadian Modifieds.

Cory and Jamie both moved up to finish 2nd in their heat races and gain spots in the redraw for feature starting positions, while Ryan also moved forward in his heat race.

"My brother started 7th and finished 4th in what was by far the toughest heat," Cory noted. "In the feature I started 3rd and fell back to 4th on the initial start. About 10 laps in, my car really seemed to come to life and I was able to regain 3rd and close in on the leaders as they approached traffic. Just as I was about to get to them, I blew it over the cushion in turns 3 and 4, and that dashed any chances I would have at the win. I was able to finish 5th which as a team we were happy about. One driver error cost us a shot at a win!

"My dad and my brother both made forward progress during the race, and finished 7th and 8th respectively. My brother ran his fastest laps of the race very late in the feature, which gives him a lot of confidence heading to Merrittville this Saturday to compete with the Empire Super Sprints!"

"We will be having a barbeque after the races on Saturday and all are welcome to join us," said Cory. "I will also be having my car on display at Weathertech in Burlington on Saturday June 27th from 11am to 3pm, so definitely feel free to stop in and say hi!"
