Hogansburg, New York – Charlie Sandercock of Trenton, Ont. led all 40 laps of the 4th annual Richard Tenace Memorial presented by Tenacious Sound to earn his third win of the season on the Go Nuclear Late Model Series tour at Mohawk International Raceway on Saturday night. The win was also Sandercock’s fourth in his last six starts at the Hogansburg, NY track.

There was plenty of action right from the initial green flag as Brian Down (No.8 Unique Landscaping) and Shayne Tenace (No.98 Tenacious Sound) made contact, sending Tenace into the infield in turn one and Down to the outside of the corner. The caution flag flew to give Tenace a chance to re-fire the car. Down was unable to continue.

When the green came out, Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) set a torrid pace in the early going over Kyle Sopaz (No12 KD Transmissions), Chad Homan (No.91 DigTrack.com), Phil Potts (No.29 Indewey Excavating), and Friday night winner Brandon Mowat (No.46 Target Fabrication).

Sandercock drove like a mad man as he pulled out to a commanding lead in the opening 20 laps and worked traffic perfectly while Homan and Sopaz battled for second. Homan took the spot away while Mowat got to the 4th spot by Potts.

Meanwhile, Sandercock continued his great run by building a 3.5-second lead with 15 to go but Mowat was making a serious bid to the front. On lap 28 he took over third from Sopaz and did all he could to close in on Sandercock and Homan.

The only thing that could have helped Mowat was a caution, but it didn’t happen on this night. Sandercock dominated the entire 40-lap affair for his third series win of the year. Homan settled for second with Mowat, Sopaz and Potts completing the top-five.

The Go Nuclear Late Model Series returns to action tonight at Weedsport Speedway for its second ever visit to the recently renovated facility. Race time is 6:00pm. Additional event information is available at www.weedsportspeedway.com.
