Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team had a mission to secure as many championship points as possible during the final round of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario. It would take every ounce of strength from the driver to complete that mission.
Practice took place Saturday afternoon but heavy rains forced the postponement of the event until Sunday. Despite the delay Ranger was happy with his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge. “I think the car feels pretty good” after qualifying in the eighth position. “We’ll be good on long runs, I’m not concerned about our starting spot at all” he added.
As the 250-lap feature event began Ranger began pushing the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge forward in the field into the top five. “It’s a long race,” explained Ranger “I wanted to see how the track was after the rain and not push too hard early”.
Trouble lurked however for the #27 Mopar Parts team as they sustained contact with another competitor. The team called Ranger to pit road and inspected the car and thought they were okay to continue. Soon after the race restarted Ranger noticed that exhaust fumes were making their way into the driver compartment. “It was tough to handle and soon I couldn’t take it anymore, it wasn’t safe to stay out” said Ranger.
The #27 Mopar Parts Dodge would wind up making several pit stops during the day to repair exhaust pipes and ensure that Ranger was able to continue the race safely. “I was really determined to finish as high as possible but it was a challenge. The whole team worked so hard and so quickly to make the repairs”.
Despite the additional pit stops for repairs Ranger was able to bring the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge across the finish line and score enough championship points to secure his second overall finish in the standings.
“This was a challenging year at times and I’m really proud of how hard the Mopar boys worked, especially this weekend. It was the first year with Dave Wight as Crew Chief and we’ve really built a strong relationship. There are some development things happening and we are both really excited about the possibilities for 2017” stated Ranger.

L’équipe Mopar Termine Deuxième Au Championnat
Andrew Ranger et l’équipe Mopar Parts Dodge #27 avaient la mission de sécuriser le plus grand nombre de points possible au championnat lors de la dernière épreuve de la série NASCAR Pinty’s ce dimanche au circuit Kawartha Speedway près de Peterborough, Ontario. Ça aura prit chaque once de force du pilote pour compléter la mission.
La séance de pratique s’est déroulée samedi après-midi mais de fortes averses ont forcé la remise de l’épreuve à dimanche. Malgré le délai, Ranger était heureux avec sa Mopar Parts Dodge #27. « Je pense que la voiture se porte bien » disait-il après avoir qualifié la voiture à la huitième position. « On devrait être bon à long terme, je ne m’inquiète pas du tout avec notre position de départ » ajoutait-il.
Au moment où l’épreuve de 250 tours commença, Ranger se mit tout de suite à l’œuvre en poussant la Mopar Parts Dodge #27 au top 5. « C’est une longue course, » expliquait Ranger « je voulais voir comment la piste était après la pluie et je ne voulais pas pousser trop tôt ».
Les complications n’ont pas mis trop de temps avant de se joindre à l’épreuve pour l’équipe Mopar Parts #27 alors qu’ils ont été victimes d’un contact avec un autre compétiteur tôt dans l’épreuve. L’équipe a fait entrer Ranger aux puits pour inspecter la voiture et croyait qu’il était en mesure de poursuivre la course. Quelques instants après la relance de l’épreuve, Ranger a constaté que des gaz d’échappements s’infiltraient dans le compartiment du pilote. « C’était difficile à gérer et j’ai rapidement du retourner aux puits, ce n’était pas sécuritaire de rester en piste » disait Ranger.
La Mopar Parts Dodge #27 a du retourner plusieurs fois aux puits pour réparer les tuyaux d’échappement et s’assurer que Ranger serait en mesure de continuer la course de façon sécuritaire. « J’étais vraiment déterminé à terminer aussi haut que je le pouvais mais c’était tout un défi. Toute l’équipe a travaillé très fort et rapidement pour faire les réparations ».
Malgré les arrêts aux puits additionnels, Ranger fut capable de passer la Mopar Parts Dodge #27 au fil d’arrivé et marqué assez de points au championnat pour se sécuriser la deuxième place au classement final de la saison.
« Ce fut une année difficile à certains moments et je suis vraiment fier des gars de l’équipe Mopar, spécialement ce weekend. C’était la première année avec Dave Wight comme chef d’équipe et on a déjà construit une forte relation. Il y a du développement et on est très excité pour les possibilités de 2017 » disait Ranger.
