DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team looked to continue their strong runs during the second half of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series during the final event of the 2016 season on Sunday afternoon at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario.

During the Saturday practice session Kennington had the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge near the top of the time sheets. “I was really happy with the car right away” said Kennington. “We’ve had success here before with three wins and knew we’d be strong,” he added.

Rain showers moved into the area forcing the 250-lap event would be run Sunday afternoon. The delay didn’t matter to the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team. Kennington qualified second quickest and pushed his car into the lead right from the drop of the green flag before settling into a comfortable race pace.

The St. Thomas, Ontario driver would continue to run strong with the leaders and briefly hold the lead again later on. “We were running our race and just looking to get to halfway and see how things were looking,” said Kennington.

The race would run green for a very long stretch in the middle and that was bad news for the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team. “The car was getting loose and I was struggling to hang on,” explained the driver.

After a much needed pit stop when the caution period finally arrived for fuel and fresh tires Kennington was again on the charge using his skills to work the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge. “I was working hard but as the race laps wound down I could feel something wasn’t quite right in the rear end,” said the driver after the race.

Kennington would continue to push as hard as he could and cross the finish line with a fourth place finish. “It’s another good finish for the Castrol Edge Dodge team. We’ve had some good results here in the second part of the year and we’ve found our stride. It’s good to have these positive results, it definitely give us some momentum and motivation heading into the off season”.

DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team would like to thank all the race fans for their tremendous support during the season. They’ll be busy this off-season and soon be getting ready to return to competition in 2017.
