Donington Park, UK – Mahindra Racing has today been named on a select list of manufacturers for season five of the FIA Formula E Championship.
The news reaffirms Mahindra’s commitment to the international electric racing series until at least 2021.
Mahindra Racing has been involved in the Championship since its inaugural season started in 2014, and has since developed into one of the series’ front-running teams.
Today’s announcement allows Mahindra Racing to continue its impressive rate of development, with the team’s Season 4 challenger M4Electro for season four making its debut in Spain earlier this week.
Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal, Mahindra Racing said, "I am delighted that Mahindra Racing is confirmed as a manufacturer from seasons five to seven in the next generation Formula E cars. The series is going from strength to strength with the addition of new manufacturers, new technologies and new fans. We feel that the experience we have gained from the very earliest days of the series will allow us to compete among the front runners as we get more scope to incorporate our knowledge and technology. While the passioneers of Mahindra Racing are looking forward to taking to the grid for Season Five, we are focused on maximising our impact in Season Three as well as, just yesterday, taking our first steps with our new M4Electro ahead of Season Four."
About Mahindra Racing
Mahindra Racing is one of ten teams – and the only Indian team – to compete in the FIA Formula E Championship. It is also the first and only Indian team to participate in the FIM MotoGP™ World Motorcycle Racing Championship Series since 2011 and the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (CIV) in 2012.
Mahindra Racing enters the third season of Formula E with its own electric powertrain to power its quartet of electric racing cars. The new M3Electro, launched for season three, is already proving to be a competitive package netting two podiums, a pole position and two fastest lap awards from its first three races. These results are underscored by the Mahindra Racing’s joint second place in the Teams’ Championship standings. Together with drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld, the team has high technical and sporting ambitions in the ground-breaking, fully-electric championship.
