Thorold, Ontario – KC Auto Parts Victory Lane at Merrittville Speedway welcomed four rookie winners May 6th as the 21st consecutive Season Opener featured all 7 Lucas Oil Kart Weekly Racing Series Divisions.

The Performance Manufacturing sponsored divisions saw second generation racer Brittany Kelly taking the first Checkered Flag of the new season in her first start in the Drummond Home Hardware Novice 1 Division.

 

Other first time winners were rookies as well – third generation driver Ryden Lapcevich, Dalton Slack and Austyn Werstroh respectively in the Tim Phillips Garage KC Auto Parts Novice 2, Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 and Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Divisions.

 

Lapcevich made his first start in Karting while Slack and Werstroh were new to their divisions after moving up from their 2013 classes.

 

Veterans Tyler Davidson, Corey Bodman and Colin Spatorico rounded the opening night winners after taking home wins in the RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1. Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Wilder Racing Engines Senior Animal and Cassell Manufacturing Senior Fun Divisions.

 

Kart Racing continues Tuesday May 13th. Gates open at 5 PM and Grandstand Admission is FREE. Racing begins at 7:00.
