April 9 2015
Austin, Texas - This weekend Scottish-born Canadian resident Ben Young will return to race in the United States in the new MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing series with his new team RoadRace Factory. This will be Young’s first race at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.
The 2015 MotoAmerica season debuts on April 10-12 when the stars of U.S motorcycle road racing return to COTA to join the MotoGP stars at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.
After a season in the MCE British Superbike (BSB) Championships’ Pirelli Superstock 1000 Class the resident of Thornbury Ontario Canada will pilot the RoadRace Factory prepared Yamaha YZFR6 in the 2015 Supersport Championship.
The first of the action will start on Thursday, April 9 as the MotoAmerica championship season kicks off with three of its classes serving as the support races for the MotoGP weekend.
Young, who's only had an opportunity to test at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last month, will need to get up to speed quickly. Adapting to new circuits has always been one of his strengths and with RoadRace Factory team’s knowledge and technical expertise there is very little that can hold him back from being competitive.
Ben Young: “It seems like it’s been a longer than normal off season but I’ve used that time to train and reconnect with friends and family after a season in the UK. The RoadRace Factory R6 felt great at the COTA test. I’m so stoked to get this season started and to catch up with the fans and many fellow racers I haven’t seen in over a year.”
All MotoAmerica races are being televised in the US and Canada on the CBS Sports Network, during the weekend afternoons and in primetime with event highlights, features, and other content on Motor Trend OnDemand at MotorTrendOnDemand.com.
Last year Young participated in the Laps 4 MD fundraising initiative for the final two rounds of the BSB Superstock 1000 Championship in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Young will continue his support in 2015 and “Race for the Cure” by donating one dollar for each lap lead in this year’s MotoAmerica Supersport races.
Young is proud to represent his personal sponsors; Scot-Build Developments Inc., Tim Hortons (Sudbury), AXO America and Bell Helmets.
