Austin, Texas - This past weekend Ben Young made a splash at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in his MotoAmerica Supersport championship debut. The resident of Thornbury Ontario Canada piloted the RoadRace Factory prepared Yamaha YZFR6 to his first points of the 2015 season.

The 2015 MotoAmerica season debuted alongside the superstars of MotoGP at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas as three of the MotoAmerica championship classes served as the support races for the MotoGP weekend.

The start of the inaugural MotoAmerica Supersport race on Saturday was met with overcast skies, on and off sprinkles 15041402bchanging to drying conditions then concluding in a major downpour.

Young took to a dry track during the pre-race sighting lap however once the riders returned to take their spots on the grid the rain came once again.

Starting from 10th on the grid Young made consistent progress for the first 7 laps. David Anthony began to gap the RoadRace Factory pilot after Young made a few mistakes. He quickly regrouped and managed to pull the gap back to Anthony.

Ben Young: “As soon as I got on the back on Dave’s rear wheel the skies opened up with massive down pour.”

By the 9th lap Young had worked his way up to 7th place. With one lap remaining of the 12 lap feature the heavy rain had not only triggered off-track excursions for a few of the top runners but also near zero visibility for all of the Supersport riders.

Young would eventually make it past Anthony to grab 3rd however due to the extreme lack of visibility he had to dial it back to ensure he would finish the race with some solid points.

Young would cross the finish line in 4th earning 13 points for himself and the RoadRace Factory team in the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport championship

Ben Young: “I really wanted to see my RoadRace Factory Yamaha R6 on the podium. Sadly I had vision problems during the heavy down pour but, we brought it home! Massive thanks to the whole RoadRace Factory team and every person involved, you all rock!”
