This is the first in a series of LAPS4MD driver profiles, so you can get to know the drivers supporting this great cause.
These week, we get to know Maritime racer DJ Casey.
How did you get interested in racing?
My father would take me to all the local short track races, watched the NASCAR events on tv, etc.
How old were you when you started racing?
I was 8 years old when I| started, which was the first year bandoleros came to Canada
Who was your favorite driver growing up?
Local driver- John Flemming
NASCAR – Dale Earnhardt Sr & Jr
Who is your favorite driver now/or driver you look up to?
Really look up to Mike Mckenize, he has done a lot for me the last two years, a great guy and friend!
What is your favorite track that you have driven on?
Riverside International Speedway, James River, NS
What track would you like to drive on but haven't yet?
New Smyrna and Martinsville.
What series are you racing in now?
Full time Maritime Prostock Tour & working on funding for the NASCAR Pinty Series
What car are you driving?
#94 Ford, 2017 Port City chassis built by Mike Mckenzie,
What are your goals for the coming season?
Really looking to finally get a win, we have 2 second place finishes at some of the biggest events, just never got the job done yet!
How did you hear about the LAPS4MD program?
I believe I saw it on a fellow racers page, at the time I was trying to find a charity to be a part of, did some research and I felt it was a good fit!
What made you sign up?
Just from hearing great things from others, really is a well respect group!
Would you encourage other racers to join in support?
Definitely, especially around the maritimes, i think im the only LAPS4MD driver, wish everyone was!
