Mirabel, Québec – Behind the wheel of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has crossed the finish line in fourth place today on the ICAR circuit in Mirabel, Québec. With this performance, he added another top-5 to his record. Thanks to it, the 2014 champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series is currently in fourth place in the championship and well-positioned for the next two events in Western Canada.
The #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare team has prepared a car that behaved relatively well on the track throughout the weekend. “The goal during qualifiers was to make sure our car could perform through the end of the race and finish among the leaders,” explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin in an interview following Saturday’s qualifying.
The driver of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare, along with crew chief Mario Gosselin, were aiming for nothing less than a podium. However, the race went exceptionally well and without a single neutralization. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was therefore able to secure his fourth place and continue climbing the ranks in the championship.
“We started in sixth place and finished in fourth, we’ve also moved up the championship ranks, and we’re only twelve points away from the first. This really puts us back in the race, and we’re satisfied with the top-5. However, the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare was not easy to race with, and it’ll be important to further improve its performance to increase our speed,” shares Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
The #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare crew is already ready for the next two events that will occur in Western Canada on July 11th (Edmonton, Alberta), and July 15 (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). “Last year, we finished in second place in Edmonton, and we won our first oval track race in Saskatoon. I really appreciate the trip to the West, people’s mentality, and their conviviality. It’s one of the strengths of NASCAR Canada for our sponsors, it’s important for us to have the opportunity to represent them coast to coast,” mentions Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
* The race will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday July 11 at 1 p.m. and on Saturday July 25 at 2 p.m. on RDS2.
