Antigonish, Nova Scotia - Scott Steckly driving the Canadian Tire Dodge led the most laps again and rolled to his third win of the 2015 season. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 came to Riverside Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia for event nine of eleven at a favourite stop of the tour for Steckly.

Practice showed the 22 Racing entry had good speed as he posted quickest time during both half hour sessions. “I really like this place. The high banking here just suits our style and we always seem to run well here,” said Steckly.

Qualifying would follow and Steckly’s track record from 2010 of 14.488 was broken by two drivers. The Canadian Tire Dodge team would come up short of posting their four pole in a row on an oval track by a slim 9/1000ths of a second lining them up on the outside of row one for the start of the Wounded Warriors Canada 300.

At the drop of the green Steckly would drop back several positions reporting that he thought he had a problem. After running a few laps, he settled into a groove and the car gradually started to improve. The #22 then started passing cars and moving up positions and had gotten to within striking distance of the top three when caution flew for a blown motor of a fellow competitor.

Steckly would pit for fuel and an adjustments and start his charge to the front. A few laps later the caution would fly again and Steckly would pit for right side tires giving him what he needed to finish the race. With over half of the 300 laps still to go, Steckly knew he would have to manage his tires and the car to go the distance. By the time the 300 lap distance was completed, the Canadian Tire Dodge had passed all but one other competitor, putting the entire field less one car down a lap. “What a great car my team gave me again tonight,” said Steckly after the race. “This track at Riverside is one of my favourites to race on. I wish we could come here twice a year.”

With the win, Steckly is now tied for second in all time wins with 19 and increased his points lead in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 to twelve points from six, with two races remaining.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team will be at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Aug. 29 and 30th.
