Antigonish, Nova Scotia – Behind the wheel of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has crossed the finish line in seventh place yesterday, on the oval circuit of the Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Everything was in place for him to end up on the podium. However, the chosen pit stop strategy did not favor the team, as no neutralization occurred at the end of the race. Due to this, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin had to finish the 300-lap event on used tires. This eighth top 10 allows him to remain in fourth place in the general rankings.
Practice and qualifying sessions went well; Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was a tenth of a second away from first place. In ninth on the starting grid, the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare car rapidly made his way just behind the leader (67th lap) and firmly defended his second place for over 60 laps.
“We certainly had a car that could fight in the top 3, the potential was there. Even with used tires, I could fight among the leaders. I finally pushed the car to its maximum, and in the last few laps, a differential oil cooler line broke. The strategy was good, and we were hoping for a yellow flag after the 175 laps so we could finish the race strong. However, no neutralization occurred and it cost us a lot. We finished in seventh place, which allows us to maintain our fourth place in the championship. With only two races to go, every point counts,” explains the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare car.
*The race will be broadcasted on TSN on August 22 at 6 p.m. and on RDS2 on September 4 at 7:30 p.m.
