The Dumoulin Brothers: The only Quebecers in the top 5
Bowmanville, Ontario – Since the beginning of the season, it’s gone without saying that Jean-François Dumoulin is never out of surprises with his skillful driving on all types of tracks. Case in point; after having performed major modifications on the #04 Dodge Bernier Crépeau / Bellemare / MIA/ Spectra Premium on Saturday (August 29), the Quebecer was able to get back up to the leaders pack going all the way from twelfth to fifth place yesterday, on the track of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Thanks to the result, Jean-François Dumoulin gains another place in the championship ranks (seventh).
Saturday’s practice sessions (August 29) have revealed a few mechanical oddities, and the #04 Bernier Crépeau/ Bellemare / MIA/ Spectra Premium team has made the decision to replace the differential in order to compensate other adjustments (the MSD box was defective, and the engine was constantly cutting off). The crew has worked efficiently to make the changes despite time restrictions (between the last practice session and the qualifications).
“I’m really happy with the weekend overall, the team reacted quickly. The qualifications didn’t go as well as we’d hoped. The #04 Bernier Crépeau / Bellemare / MIA/ Spectra Premium car was fast and we quickly gained back places. However, the car was understeering quite a bit and the tires were quickly used up in the second part of the race. During the last restart, we had interesting battles with other series veterans, and it was inevitable for us to at least reach the top 5,” mentions a confident Jean-François Dumoulin.
A reminder that, from the very first event of the season, Jean-François Dumoulin’s teammates have quickly generated a synergy between them in order to overcome this new challenge. A successful endeavor, as they had crossed the finish line in third place on this same track. That podium has also completely changed the goals for the season.
Race after race, Jean-François Dumoulin continues to showcase his agility and expertise both on track and at the mechanical level. He now successfully competes among series veterans, and has the goal to score his first podium on the oval track of Karwartha Speedway this upcoming September 19.
* The race will be broadcasted on TSN on August 22 at 6 p.m. and on RDS2 on September 4 at 7:30 p.m.
