Thorold, Ontario – With the 65th Anniversary Season down to 3 weeks away – Merrittville Speedway Officials announces a clarification in regards to the Novice Division and the addition of Tow money for US competitors.

“When we announced that a Novice Division would join the Yager Bros Trucking Sportsman Division originally – a driver could only run one division,” said (Merrittville Speedway GM) adding, “we will now allow one driver to compete in both divisions.”

Drivers with previous experience in the Sportsman Division who have yet to earn a Feature Win can also compete in the new division. After 3 wins however the driver may not return to the Novice Division. 2016 Rookies are exempt from this rule.

To help US Drivers wishing to compete on Regular Nights, Merrittville Speedway will now provide an extra $20 in Tow Money.

“In recent years, the tolls on our International Bridges have increased … I think that it has become a deterrent for US teams to visit us on a weekly basis,” said Bicknell-Jones, “through-out our history … American Drivers have enjoyed great success and as we celebrate our 65th Season – we would like to welcome those who would like to visit. Hopefully this incentive will help ease the burden of the bridge.”

Merrittville Speedway’s 65th Anniversary Season begins Saturday April 16th with a Test and Tune Day open to Drivers in each of the 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions – the Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modified, Yager Bros Trucking Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Rev’s Full Throttle Powersports Modified Lites and the Van Raine Construction 4 Cylinders. Any Street Stocks, Big Block Modifieds, Sprint Cars, Late Models, Vintage Race Cars and Pro 4 Trucks are also welcome.
