Mirabel, Québec – The Dodge #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Groupe Bellemare team has had a weekend marked by ups and downs at ICAR circuit in Mirabel. Three laps from the end of the race, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was well on-track to another top-5 appearance, at which point an opponent caused an incident, forcing him to cross the finish line in thirteenth place. This result does not reflect the quality of the work done and of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin’s driving, he who has lined up multiple top-5s and podiums on this track over the last five years.
During the trial sessions and qualifiers (Saturday, July 2nd), the team had to deal with brake issues on the #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare car. In eighth place on the starting grid, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has maintained his position in the top-10 for the majority of the event which was punctuated with a single caution. During the restart, at which point he was fighting for fifth place with Alex Tagliani and Gary Klutt, the latter started a skirmish which denied the #47 WeatherTech Canada / Groupe Bellemare driver a sixth top-5.
“We wish to keep the gear which will allow us to be present at the end of each race. The battle with Tagliani and Klutt was close, and if I hadn’t been hit three laps from the end, we would have met our goal. Once again, we’re looking ahead,” explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
Next event: Pinty's Grand Prix of Toronto – July 15 and 16, 2016
