DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team were looking to rebound as the team hit the track at Circuit ICAR for round number four of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday. The team had a solid weekend and recorded a fourth place finish and jumped up in the overall point standings.

During the final Saturday practice session Kennington was strong running third quickest but came away a bit disappointed with his qualifying run on the 14-turn road course. “It’s a tough place and a struggle for me to get that one great lap,” he explained. “But we have a good car and will work our way forward in the race” he added.

Kennington was true to his word and as soon as the green flag waved for the 100km event he was hunting for opportunities to move the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge forward. Within a few laps he was ahead a couple of positions and then settled into a rhythm.

The only caution period during the race would come on lap 22 and Kennington knew it was his opportunity to again forward. “With the field bunched up it’s a chance to gain positions” said the driver.

And when the race returned to speed Kennington again pushed the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge ahead picking up two spots in a couple of laps and then two more in short order. Kennington would hold off a late challenge and cross the finish line with a fourth place result.

“It was a good day for the whole team,” said Kennington. “The Castrol Edge guys did a great job preparing the car. We had to start back in the field a bit but our car was consistent all day and I picked up some place and we gained a little in the point standings too”.
