Brighton, Ontario – Brighton Speedway roars back to life on Saturday, July 16 with its annual Salute to our Forces race night presented by CANEX. The speedway will continue its annual tradition and honour Canadian Armed Forces members from 8 Wing CFB Trenton for serving our country.
Military members can show their military ID at the 8 Wing CANEX store in Trenton to receive their free pass to Saturday’s event or at the track on race night. Charlie Sandercock and Phil Potts will have their Pro Late Models on display at the 8 Wing CANEX store in Trenton from 11am-1pm. Coffee and snacks will be provided for military members as part of the event.
At the track, Canadian Armed Forces members will participate in the night’s racing by waving the first green flag of the night, riding in the Campbellford Chysler Pace Truck and presenting feature winners with their awards.
Saturday’s race will feature racing from five action-packed divisions including the first visit of the season from the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club (EOVSCC). The Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s are all on the schedule as well.
Kingston, Ont. racer John Stanley enters Saturday’s EOVSCC tour as the point leader and holds a 12-point advantage over fellow Kingston native Denzil Billings Jr. Merrickville’s Steve Billings occupies third in the standings ahead of Kemptville’s Steve Lackie and Watertown, NY driver Ally Amell. The EOVSCC will also return on September 23 as part of the Applefest Shootout weekend.
Charlie Sandercock’s lead atop the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Model standings grew to 55 points over Phil Potts after his win last week. Andrew Hennessy is at the top of the Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified standings with a 175-point advantage over fellow Picton native Kraig Handley.
Jonah Mutton went to victory lane for the first time this season last Saturday night to maintain his spot in the top-five of the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock standings. Justin Ramsay holds a 215-point lead over Wade Purchase at the top of the standings. Brandon Murrell and Doug Anderson occupy third and fourth in the standings.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4s return to action after a week off with Tyler French atop the standings. Josh Read sits second ahead of Matthew Moore, Adam Flieler and Peter Moore.
All of the action get underway at 7:00pm. Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm. Adult admission is just $10 and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 kids 16 and under) is just $25. Complete event information is available at www.brightonspeedway.com.
