Edmonton , Alberta – Alex Labbé holds off the Can-Am Ford Fusion starting from the 18th position to finish 7th at the 6th event of the NASCAR Pinty’s series on Edmonton International Raceway this Saturday. The Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou’s Barbeque Team started their swing to the West Coast of Canada with hard work and true devotion when the team members decided to change engine between the final practice and qualifications.

Starting at the back of the grid with a powerful new engine, the St-Albert, Quebec resident did not wait to make his way up to the front. Labbé showed the crowd how talented he is when he climbed to the 3rd position chasing Rookie Lapcevich. Approaching the mid-race break, Labbé was forced to pit under a green flag due to hard front damage. The Can-Am pit crew made adjustments to hold on till the intermission. Due to power issue, the break took place at Lap 130 instead of 150. Going back to green with 2 fresh right tires, fuel and lots of tape, the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 has never quit.

Unswerving, with a hard hit from behind, the 23-year-old driver got run over while running 3rd but stayed in the race battling for top-5. Clever skills kept the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 but got involved in an accident coming in turn on lap 172. Surviving from a demolition derby pace race Alex Labbé said: “It was an intense day. I’m so proud of the team Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou’s Barbeque members, who worked hard to fix the multiple problems we suffered from. Right now, I feel like I gave my 100% juggling back up front all night. With 3 days before the Velocity Prairie Thunder 50, my guys and I will have to work hard as usual to fix our car.”

The Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/ Lou’s Barbeque crew will head to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 on Wednesday for the 8th race of the season.
