Caistor Centre, Ontario - The Team Turner Racing Sprint Car drivers finally got some racing in last weekend, following two weeks of rain-plagued events. This Friday they're ready to host their annual TTR Corn Roast!
Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan got back on track last Friday at Ohsweken Speedway. Ryan started 12th in the A-Feature, with Cory starting behind him in 13th, and Jamie coming out of the B-Feature to start 20th.
Ryan was forced to make a pit stop early in the race with his Aces Bar & Grill #91 and fought back to finish 14th, while Cory was moving forward in his Hill's Racing #97 until a mechanical failure derailed his efforts. Jamie's luck was better, as he charged forward to finish 8th in the Insta-Panels #11.
“We really struggled through our heat and B-Main tonight, and barely qualified for the A," Jamie noted. "The team really gave me a fast racer in the A and we were the evening's 'Hard Charger'. Big thanks to my team!”
Ryan and Jamie next traveled to Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night to race against the Patriot Sprint Tour. Ryan accumulated the second-highest passing points total for the night by driving from 7th to 3rd in his heat race. He drew the 4th starting spot for the A-Feature and came home 5th, while Jamie recovered from a tough heat race to finish 15th.
"This was just my second trip to Brockville, and the #91 was quick right off the trailer," Ryan observed. "This was a good night for us, and we are really looking forward to finishing the year off strong."
Unfortunately TTR teammate Havard Daniels is sidelined with a medical problem, and hasn't been able to race recently.
"(Havard) has had to cut his Canadian Sprint Car season short and return to New Zealand immediately. We all wish Havard a safe trip home and a speedy recovery."
The team will be back in action this Friday, August 26 at Ohsweken Speedway for the penultimate round of the 2016 weekly series. Cory is currently 7th in the Ohsweken championship standings, while Ryan is 8th, and Jamie is 11th. Everyone is invited to the TTR pit area after the races for the team's annual Corn Roast!
