Following an impressive 2016 season with great competition throughout, the OSCAAR Super Late Model drivers and crews gathered together on Saturday, January 21 to honor everybody for their accomplishments.

With two victories and eight top-fives, J.R. Fitzpatrick was consistent throughout the entire season en route to being crowned the champion.

"First of all, I have to thank everybody at OSCAAR," Fitzpatrick started. "Everybody - the tech officials, scoring. It was a lot of fun this year. Like Gary and his team always do, we tried a bunch of stuff as well. Some of it worked, sometimes it didn't - but you learn. I really have to thank my crew. We had some issues with my car throughout the year where it breaking in the back and we spent a few nights stripping it, getting it back together, and lucky enough Roy had the 4 car I could use for a couple events, so thanks Roy. Of course, I have to thank Bill Passer - just cause it makes him feel better. I got to thank my fiancé Alaura for putting me up with me still racing. Thanks again."

On top of the top-10 in points receiving their award plaques, six other awards were given out throughout the evening.

Gary Passer took home the Race Time Radio – Sirius XM 167 Hard Charger Award by seven points over J.R. Fitzpatrick.

The Sportsman of the Year Award was given to Todd Campbell. Campbell showed respect to his fellow competitors off and on the track en route to scoring four top-10s, including a runner-up at Flamboro Speedway in July.

The Hard Luck Award went to Derrick Tiemersma following mechanical issues, including a motor blow-up mid-season.

The Most Improved Driver Award went to Charlie Gallant, who finished fourth in the points standings after missing the top-10 last year. Gallant was consistent throughout the season, posting three top-fives and seven top-10s, including a third place finish in the season opener at Flamboro in May.

The Best Appearing Car Award went to J.R. Fitzpatrick, who captured the fan's attention with an impressive blue and yellow wrap.

The last award given out was a special award put together by Gary Elliott. called the Ironman Award. The award is meant to go to overcame adversity throughout the year to run all of the events on the schedule. For 2016, the award went to Tyler Hawn. Hawn was able to run all the events this year, despite having a heavy crash mid-season which required extensive repairs. The perseverance was awarded as Hawn finished sixth in points, with three top-fives and eight top-10s.
