Edmonton, Alberta - The 2017 season of the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series begins in less than 100 days.
Before the season starts, two Alberta tracks are opening their doors for a pre-season test and tune. Drayton Valley Speedway has scheduled a one-day test and tune on their oval track for Saturday, April 29th. Central Alberta Raceways in Rimbey recently added a two-day test and tune on Saturday and Sunday, May 6th and 7th. For the first time in 26 years, Castrol Raceway has opted out of hosting an oval test and tune. A last minute addition to the Edmonton schedule by track officials is still possible.
Last month, the NPP Late Model Series released its tentative race schedule. The 17th consecutive season of race action is set to begin on Friday, May 26th at Central Alberta Raceways. Sidney, British Columbia's Darrell Midgley is the defending season champion and is looking to become the first driver in NPP Series history to win four championships.
