The Avion Motorsports team is looking forward to returning to action this weekend as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series revs up as the feature event this Saturday at the Toronto Indy weekend. The team will field two entries for the race. Competing in his first race of the year will be Trevor Seibert who will pilot the #69 Lake Excavating/Avion Motorsports Chevrolet along with former winner on the streets of Toronto Robin Buck in the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge.
Both Seibert and Buck have run hundreds of laps in practice and competition on the tricky 11-turn course that stretches for 1.755 miles around Exhibition Place in Toronto and expect be up to speed quickly. “My history with Toronto goes as far back as the ‘90’s and I’ve had a lot of memorable races there,” said Seibert. “Running the Player’s Series, in CASCAR, NASCAR and also in open wheel cars in Formula Atlantic and Indy Lights. It’s a fun track to race at and there’s plenty of action all the way around” he added.
While the team hasn’t participated in the last few rounds of the Pinty’s series things have been extremely busy at the Arnprior, Ontario shop. “We’ve been going non-stop working on cars for the Area 27 track,” explained General Manager Al Lebert. “We would have liked to have run some other races but didn’t want to go out and not be fully prepared. We should have more to announce in the next week or two about the CTMP Labour Day weekend,” he stated.
This weekend in Toronto it’ll be like old times for Seibert and Buck. “Robin and I have raced against each other I don’t know how many times,” said Seibert. “He’ll have the early advantage because he’s got one race under his belt, but I’ll shake the rust off pretty quick. We had a 6th place finish in my last NASCAR event there so I’m excited to get at it this weekend”.
At the first round of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in May Buck competed in one of three Avion Motorsports entries and felt he and the team had a good beginning to their relationship in their first race together. “I believe we had a top-ten car and that’s a good start to this collaboration,” said Buck.
The Avion Motorsports team will hit the track for practice and qualifying on Friday and the 100km race will go green at 3:45PM Eastern Saturday afternoon.
