Milverton, Ontario – The 22 Racing teams are looking forward to getting back on track this weekend at Jukasa Motor Speedway after a three-week hiatus. The first event of the season was on the road course of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Victoria Day weekend and they now head to this 5/8-mile oval just outside of Cayuga, ON for the Rankin Construction 200 on Saturday night.
After losing out on the win here last year on the last corner of the last lap Donald Theetge has some unfinished business to take care of. “I can’t wait to get back to Jukasa,” said Theetge. “With the race we had their last year and the test last week I think we have a good car from 22 Racing and should have a shot at the win.”
Alex Tagliani finished 6th in his debut at Jukasa Motor Speedway in 2017 and is looking to improve on that finish this year. “We started the year really strong with a lot of promise and the team worked hard over the winter. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was very positive and very exciting for us. We had a little mechanical issue with three laps to go which was disappointing, but we left the track with a big appetite and we are excited to get back on track at Jukasa. The team is working very hard as we have a new car for this weekend. We didn’t get a chance to test it, but I have a lot of faith in the team and the cars they prepare for me every week.”
Marc-Antoine Camirand is making his first oval start since 2015 where he finished 5th at Kawartha Speedway but he is also looking to run up front and be on the podium. “This is my first oval race since 2015. I had a good test session at Jukasa last week in the 22 Racing GM Paille Chevrolet Camaro which was fast. So I’m feeling confident about doing well on this beautiful track.”
Jukasa Motor Speedway formerly known as Cayuga Speedway re-opened in August of 2017 after major upgrades to the facility. The 5/8-mile-high banked oval has been returned to it’s Crown Jewel status by owners Jerry Montour and Ken Hill after sitting idle since 2009. There are over 350 acres of property with upwards of 1,000 campsites for the race fans to enjoy.
