Victoria, BC – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Racing Team has four consecutive nights of racing in the United States the first week of July. Darrell Midgley is behind the wheel of the NPP/Alien Race Cars #81 Dodge at South Sound Speedway on Wednesday night, July 3rd. Lane Zerbin fly’s the NPP flag on his #81 IMCA Modified at Cottage Grove Speedway on July 4th, 5th and 6th.
For Darrell Midgley, this will be the fifth consecutive year he’s competed in at least one premier Super Late Model event that’s scheduled at the Rochester, Washington facility. “It’s a fun track to run at,” says the Sydney, British Columbia driver, “we were really good at this track last year. We just needed a little luck at this race.” Approaching the halfway point of last year’s Wes Rhodes Firecracker 126, Midgley was running 5th.
“We had a right rear tire go down. Had to pit under green.” Midgley returned to the track but was several laps down. He ended up being credited with an 11th place finish. “We are certainly looking to improve on that (last year’s finish).” Midgley’s best ever finish at South Sound Speedway was 6th at the Miller 200 back in August of 2017.
“We’ve had fast cars and decent finishes here.” Several practice sessions are scheduled for Super Late Model teams Wednesday afternoon in preparation for qualifying and the 2019 Wes Rhodes Firecracker 126.

Two weeks ago, Lane Zerbin drove the NPP/C-Force Marine #81 Modified to a second-place finish at Grays Harbor Raceway. “That was our best finish of the season in the Washington Modified Tour,” exclaims the Victoria, British Columbia driver, “I think we can carry the momentum into the three-day show at Cottage Grove.” Lane and his dad (Ted) say they are up for the challenge competing at the 2019 Freedom Cup in Oregon. “It should be good.
Hopefully we can dial the car in and get used to a track that we don’t run at on a weekly basis.” In his one and only appearance at Cottage Grove Speedway, Zerbin finished 11th back on July 4th, 2016. “This is our first big road trip of the year. Sure looking forward to it.”
