Trois-Rivières, Quebec - After the opening round in Ontario followed by a race in Quebec to start the season, the drivers of the NASCAR Canada series begin this weekend a tour of three consecutive races in eight days, on two different oval tracks, in the Maritime Provinces. On June 22, it will be the Eastbound International Speedway, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, which will welcome the drivers and teams of the series, before a doubleheader (Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30) in Nova Scotia, at Antigonish. Three evening races which represent real sprints... and a marathon of travel for the members of the series’ teams!

For the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, these events in the Maritimes are very special, both on a personal and sporting level. “My mother is from New Brunswick, so I have a particular affection for returning to compete in races in the Maritime Provinces,” confides the three-time series champion and member of the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame. “Also, the penultimate time that the NASCAR Canada series presented a race in Antigonish, I took pole position and won the event! » adds Louis-Philippe about this victory clinched in 2018 on this track called the Riverside International Speedway.

“It’s very positive to go on this tour in the Maritimes with the level that we had on the first oval race of the season. Of course, Avondale and Antigonish are different tracks from Vallée-Jonction which we know very well, but our oval car was well developed during the winter and I am confident that it is possible to stay in the Top 5, score good points in the championship and continue our progress” specifies the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab.

From the Trois-Rivières region, where Dumoulin Compétition is based, the trip to the Maritimes is long and expensive: 2,400 km and a ferry ride to get to the Newfoundland track, which represents approximately 30 hours, then a little over 1,200 km and another ferry to go from Avondale to Antigonish (for a total of approximately 19 hours). Finally, the return from Nova Scotia to the team base after the third race should take another dozen hours (1,200 km). “Our truck driver left on Sunday. For him, it will be a two-week trip, it's a lot of time and budget to participate in these races but as a driver, I'm very happy to go and race there and it's also great exposure for all our sponsors” specifies Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

“These events will be a good test for our oval car. With such short time between races, it will be necessary to avoid contacts and bring the car back in good shape for the following rounds, which will arrive quickly in July. But I can't wait to compete in these three races,” concluded the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab.
