DJ Kennington, driver of the #17 Castrol EDGE Dodge, capped off the 2024 NASCAR Canada Series season with a strong performance at Autodrome Montmagny this past Sunday. Showing competitive speed in practice, Kennington qualified 13th for the 250-lap event, positioning himself for a challenging race on the 3/8-mile track.
In the early stages, Kennington found it difficult to gain ground due to a tight race setup that hindered his ability to make moves. The # 17 Castrol EDGE Dodge driver made a pit stop during a caution period just prior to midway to make adjustments. On the restart Kennington was collected in a multicar collision and suffered a flat right rear tire and body damage. The #17 team acted quickly, making the necessary tire change and returned him to the fight.
The Castrol team made additional adjustments during the scheduled mid-race break for fuel and tires that proved effective, and Kennington charged hard through the field in the second half of the race. Despite the setbacks, he battled his way to a ninth-place finish by the time the checkered flag flew.
With this tenth, top ten finish of the year, Kennington solidified his position in the NASCAR Canada Series, finishing the season fourth in the overall championship standings.
