It's a busy weekend ahead for Team Turner Racing with 5 races in 3 nights.
Caistor Centre, Ontario - Team Turner Racing has a busy part of their calendar coming up, with 5 races scheduled in 5 days at 3 different tracks. Jamie Turner, Cory Turner, Ryan Turner, and Havard Daniels were also in action last weekend...
FRIDAY, JULY 18
Jamie, Cory, and Havard were back at Ohsweken Speedway for another round of 360 Sprint Car racing. Havard started 11th and finished 12th in the feature, while Cory started 15th and finished 13th, and Jamie had a disappointing night when a rock tore the rear brake line off his car, and he was eventually credited with 19th place.
"(Cory's) goal is to get through those heats a little better and get in that redraw," says Jamie.
Jamie remains 10th in the Ohsweken championship points standings, while Cory is 12th and leads the Rookie of the Year standings, and Havard is up to 22nd despite missing the first 4 races of the season.
SATURDAY, JULY 19
Cory took his #19 Sprint Car to the Silverdale Gun Club for their "Make a Wish" fundraiser on Saturday. There was a large fan turnout, with Cory signing lots of autographs and meeting many new fans despite the rainy weather.
The wet weather did put a halt to the team's on-track plans, as Merrittville Speedway's event was washed out, keeping Ryan and his #91 DIRTcar Sportsman Modified at home. Ryan remains 12th in the Merrittville championship points standings.
SUNDAY, JULY 20
The weather cooperated on Sunday, and allowed Ryan to race at Humberstone Speedway, where he finished 2nd in his heat race and started 5th in the feature, and ended up 6th. The numbers don't tell the whole story, though, as father Jamie explains:
"Ryan got worked out of the top 5 early, but then fought back to 5th and lost it on the last lap after a real good side by side battle with Darrell Farraway over the last 5 laps. Real good run," says Jamie.
Ryan has now moved past Jordan Cosco and into 9th in the Humberstone championship points standings.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Team Turner Racing has 5 consecutive race nights coming up, starting Friday, July 25 at Ohsweken Speedway with Jamie, Cory, and Havard racing their 360 Sprint Cars on Autograph Night.
Ryan and his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified take over on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27 with events at Merrittville Speedway and Humberstone Speedway.
Jamie, Cory, and Havard will be back in action in their 360 Sprint Cars on Monday, July 28 in Ohsweken's Northern Summer Nationals, while Jamie and Cory also plan to compete at Ohsweken in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series Six Nations Showdown event on Tuesday, July 29.
