Caistor Centre, Ontario - Team Turner Racing was in action at 4 different tracks last weekend and came away with some encouraging results, but Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan have heavy hearts this week following the death of fellow racer Kevin Ward, Jr. on Saturday night. Team Turner Racing is one of many teams encouraging everyone to wear orange to the races on Friday, August 15 for an "Orange Out" in honour of Kevin, and in support of his family.

"We would like to send our condolences to Kevin Ward, Jr.'s family and friends after the horrible incident that took place on Saturday," Cory said.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 - OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY
Jamie and Cory competed in the Empire Super Sprints vs. Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car event on Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway, which brought lots of ESS talent across the border, including Kevin Ward, Jr.

Jamie drew the pole position for his heat race, while Cory was unlucky and drew the 8th starting spot in his. Jamie finished 3rd and qualified for the redraw for feature starting positions, while Cory moved up to 7th, but missed a transfer spot in his heat race and went to B-Main. Jamie came home with an 11th place finish in the feature, while Cory qualified from the B-Main.

"It was tough sledding in the feature for me on a 'hammer down' race track," said Cory. "I started 21st and could only advance one position to finish 20th."

Jamie is currently 10th in the Ohsweken championship standings, with 4 points races left on the schedule, while Cory is 12th and leads the Rookie of the Year standings.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 - BRIGHTON SPEEDWAY
Jamie and Cory traveled to Brighton Speedway on Saturday for a Southern Ontario Sprints tour event. Jamie and Cory started together at the front of their heat race.

"This was the first time we were able to start beside each other on the front row which was pretty cool!" said Cory. "I got the jump on (Jamie) off the line, but he won the drag race into turn 1. He was able to lead every lap and win the heat, while I came home third after a good battle with Rick Wilson. That put us both in the redraw where (Jamie) pulled the 5 pill, and I pulled 7."

"In the feature we ran nose to tail in 4th and 5th for much of the race, until I got over the cushion in turn 4 and cuffed the wall," said Cory. "I got a right front flat as a result. When there was a caution with 2 laps to go, I found myself running 7th but decided to pull into the pits as the the tire was on the rim. My Dad was able to get a solid restart and hang on to a top 5 finish coming home in 4th, which is his best run of the year so far!"

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 - MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY
Ryan recorded top 5's in both of his races on the weekend, which began at Merrittville Speedway on Saturday night. He started 3rd in his heat race at Merrittville and got the win, qualifying him 4th for the start of the feature. The 25 lap feature went green flag to checkered flag without a caution period, and Ryan brought his #91 home in the 5th position.

Ryan is currently 10th in the Merrittville championship standings, with just a few weeks left on the schedule there.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10 - HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
The second half of Ryan's weekend was even better, as he started and finished 2nd in his heat race at Humberstone Speedway, then started 2nd and finished 3rd in the feature for his best Humberstone finish of the season.

Ryan is now up to 8th in the Humberstone championship standings.

WHAT'S NEXT?
It's a "regular" weekend of racing, as Cory and Jamie will be back at Ohsweken Speedway for another round of 360 Sprint Car racing on Friday, August 15, while Ryan will take his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified to Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, August 16, and Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, August 17.
