The season is winding down for Team Turner Racing.
Caistor Centre, Ontario - The Team Turner Racing season is starting to wind down, but there is still lots going on, and lots left to decide for Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 - OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY
Cory and Jamie brought their 360 Sprint Cars to Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, and prepared for their annual corn roast after the races too. Cory traded his helmet for an apron early, as his car suffered a mechanical failure in hot laps that ended his night. Jamie finished 6th in his heat race and started 17th in the feature as a result. He was able to advance through the field in the feature and finished 9th on a rough and tacky track.
"(Jamie) was pretty happy with the car on the tacky track, but we just needed to loosen it up even more," Cory said.
Jamie is now up to 8th in the Ohsweken championship standings, while Cory is 11th and leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16 - MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY
Wet weather plagued many race tracks on Saturday, including Merrittville Speedway where Ryan planned to race his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified. The races were cancelled well before the scheduled start time.
Ryan is currently 10th in the Merrittville championship standings, with just 2 weeks left on the schedule there.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 17 - HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
Ryan was able to race on Sunday at Humberstone, where he drove from 6th to 2nd in his heat race and earned a spot in the redraw for feature starting spots. He drew the outside pole for the feature and stayed in the top 5, ending up with a 5th place finish.
Ryan is now up to 7th in the Humberstone championship standings with just a few weeks left on the schedule.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Cory and Jamie will be back at Ohsweken Speedway for another round of 360 Sprint Car racing on Friday, August 22.
Ryan will take his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified to Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, August 23 for the Gabe Bellante Memorial King of the Crates series finale, followed by a visit to Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, August 24.
