The 'Big Three' Battle it out this Sunday at Homestead-Miami
Toronto, Ontario - The Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro, dubbed the 'Big Three', will battle it out this Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the inaugural Trans Am Muscle Car Challenge. Growing popularity of the TA2 class led to the introduction of the challenge at select events during the 2015 season, allowing the muscle cars to race in their own stand-alone races.
The Muscle Car Challenge has quickly become more than just a race. For generations, these three cars have enveloped North American culture. They have stolen our hearts and become part of our identity. As many have pointed out, the Big Three are more than just a means of transportation; they have become a part of us and hold special memories for anyone who has come in contact with one.
This couldn't hit closer to home for Canada's Best Racing Team (CBRT) Driver, Joey McColm, who grew up going to car shows with his Dad in their 1966 Ford Mustang, complete with pearl white paint and a red leather interior. When he started advancing his racing career, McColm's father sold the Mustang to buy his first late model stock car. Never did McColm ever think he would be racing years later in a Ford Mustang in the iconic Trans Am Series.
With 70 cars registered in the TA2 class, round 2 of the 2015 championship promises to be full of fast paced racing action! Despite not finishing the last race at Sebring International Raceway due to engine problems, Canada's Best Racing Team has fully resolved these issues and is looking forward to getting the Ford Mustang back on the track.
"We've worked hard over the past month and are confident that the Mustang is ready to rock. It's one fast car and is ready to shine this weekend in Miami," said McColm. When asked about his thoughts on the Muscle Car Challenge, McColm replied with a simple statement, "Mustang all the way." And so the competition begins.
The team is thrilled to partner again with Bulk Nation, America's Bulk Food Store, for this race. Thursday and Friday are practice days for Trans Am TA2 competitors while Saturday is qualifying. The race starts on Sunday at 12:30pm ET at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Fans are encouraged to connect with Joey McColm and Canada's Best Racing Team online using the #WeAreRacers and #GoJoeGo hashtags.
