Australian Racer Scott Andrews Leads F1600 Title Chase
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Exclusive Autosport will look to maintain its excellent run of form as Round 3 of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series rolls into Virginia International Raceway (VIR) this weekend, Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June, while it also seeks a first victory in the F2000 Championship Series.
The Canadian-based team, led by Team Principal Michael Duncalfe, has stormed its way to four wins in six starts with three of those courtesy of Australian rookie Scott Andrews and current leader of the Drivers Championship.
Andrews (24) dominated Round 2 last month at the illustrious Watkins Glen International Circuit. A second place podium was followed by two victories ensuring he held the lead of the series heading to VIR for Round 3 this weekend. Scott’s on-track prowess has yet to see the Las Vegas resident off the podium this season while he’s also the only double-winner to-date in the competitive F1600 ranks.
Saskatoon racer Thomas McGregor is hoping the 11-turn, 3.4-mile VIR track will prove more fortuitous as the 2013 Formula Tour F1600 Pro-Class Champion has come close to a series of podium finishes at both Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen but on-track events have transpired against him.
In the F2000 Championship Series, Exclusive Autosport’s sole entry for 18-year-old American Trent Walko will be back in action with the teenager looking to build on a solid start to his first full-time campaign in the class. Currently sixth in the F2000 points chase, Walko’s weekend consists of another double-header to build his experience.
“Well it’s a busy weekend as always for us but it’s a challenge we always relish,” stated Team Principal Michael Duncalfe. “Scott’s been the driver to beat this season in F1600 and I’m confident that he can maintain his charge at VIR. His confidence is high and he’s proved he can fight back in races and win. I’m looking to see Thomas push up there as well. Thomas has had some bad luck and I expect to see him break out and get himself to the podium where he belongs. Trent’s progressing well in F2000 and I’m excited to see what he can do with the extra seat time we get at VIR thanks to Thursday’s practice too.”
