Patrick Dussault Victorious in F1600 Super Series Support Race

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Exclusive Autosport claimed a fifth consecutive victory in the F1600 support race category at the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Saturday 6th June, this time with hometown racer Patrick Dussault taking the spoils in a one-off appearance for the leading F1600 team.

Dussault (23) won Race 1 of the F1600 Super Series double-header following in the wheel tracks of fellow Canadian Thomas McGregor and America’s Tristan DeGrand in steering Exclusive Autosport to victory at the prestigious Formula One™ support race.

With five victories in six starts, Michael Duncalfe’s F1600 squad firmly boasts an enviable record with Patrick’s Saturday victory all the more remarkable given it marked his first outing with the team.

More podium glory followed in Race 2 on Sunday morning with Dussault taking second place behind race winner Zacharie Robichon. Exclusive Autosport celebrated a podium 2-3 finish with Porsche GT3 Cup regular Jesse Lazare (18), who finished fourth on Saturday, joining his fellow Montrealer in the champagne celebrations to the delight of the Grand Prix crowd.

The weekend proved more challenging for the third driver in the team’s three-car line-up for the Canadian Grand Prix event. American teenager Max Mällinen (17), the 2014 Formula F National Champion, recorded a DNF on Saturday but bounced back to finish eleventh on Sunday in a highly competitive field of F1600 veterans.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with Patrick’s victory in Montreal,” stated Exclusive Autosport Team Principal Michael Duncalfe. “We’ve now won five of our six starts at the Canadian Grand Prix which is a terrific achievement and a testament to how hard we work as a team. We’ve been racing this weekend in Montreal and in Virginia and all my guys have busted their humps to ensure we’re competitive on both sides of the border and regardless as to who’s behind the wheel.

“I’m especially proud of this weekend’s results in Montreal as all three drivers were racing for Exclusive Autosport for the first time. We worked hard to ensure we equipped them with the best cars and in the case of Max’s car; we rebuilt it overnight to get him back on track today. The Spectrum package is solid and in giving all three guys an equal shot this weekend, we came away with great results. I’m not too disappointed to miss out on the win today. I’m just really humbled that we have the opportunity to work with great drivers and their families and demonstrate to them the quality of our outfit.”

“I was anxious before Saturday’s race as I’d never even driven the circuit before but I ended up very happy with the win,” commented Patrick Dussault – a competitor this season in the British National Formula Ford F1600 Series. “I was racing against experienced guys here but I told myself to stay cool and I just kept my head down. When I won I was screaming in the radio I was so happy. It was a great job by Exclusive Autosport, the car was fast all weekend and I head back to compete in Britain extremely happy with my decision to come home and race at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.”
