Deerfield Beach, Florida - Performance Tech Motorsports has high hopes for a podium finish in Prototype Challenge competition during the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance on July 12 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) after a rough weekend in late June at Watkins Glen International.

Round 7 of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship series takes place north of the border in Bowmanville, Ontario, as the series' only Canadian race. The high-speed, technical track features 10 turns over its daunting 2.459 miles and is reminiscent of Watkins Glen International's design.

Racing June 28 at Watkins Glen hopefully will have served as practice for driver James French. This will be his first trip to Canada's crown jewel of road courses. CTMP will bring back old memories for teammate Conor Daly, who clinched the Pro Mazda Championship in 2010 at the venue.

Daly will serve a dual role this weekend, as he fills in for driver coach Jonatan Jorge and helps French and the team's drivers in Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda.

Team Principal Brent O'Neill has his fingers crossed CTMP will be a better weekend than Watkins Glen, where the team ended up seventh in class due to lengthy stays in the pits due to crash damage suffered in heavy rain. The track's history keeps CTMP as one of O'Neill's favorite tracks.

"The drivers love it, it's just one of the tracks you have to go to," O'Neill said. "The setup for the car will actually be pretty similar to the one we had for Watkins Glen. After the Glen, the team had about six days of getting things back in working order. It's amazing the damage you find after the fact.

"We should be good to go for Mosport, though. (Lead Engineer) Ryan's (McCarthy) been doing a great job with strategy, and James has really become impressive in the car. Conor will do great; he's always a huge help to the team."

Now over halfway through the season, Performance Tech has collected three podium finishes. With a finish of third or higher this weekend at CTMP, the team will best its season record of three podium finishes it set in 2013.

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 from noon to 3 p.m. (ET) Sunday, July 12. Fans can follow live timing on scoring.imsa.com or the official IMSA mobile app and live commentary on Twitter with @IMSALive.
