Atlantic Racing Team is now the Asian distributor for Wolf Racing Cars
Wolf 's GB08 will be made available for customers in the Asian Le Mans Series, with support coming from a newly established partnership, it was revealed Wednesday.
Wolf Racing Cars has announced that it has entered an agreement with Atlantic Racing, which will field two of the FIA CN2-spec cars in the series this year, along with providing trackside technical support for other teams.
Formed in 1989 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Canadian operation has competed in various open-wheel and sports car championships with a variety of manufacturers.
Atlantic will operate under the new name of "ATL Wolf Asia" and will also be tasked with creating a sales network for the Italian manufacturer's newly expanded prototype offerings.
"We welcome Ingo Strackerjan in our sales organization to address an important and demanding market such as Asia," said Wolf Racing Cars general manager Giovanni Bellarosa. "Entering the Asian Le Mans Series was essential for us in waiting for the new models, Wolf LMP2 and LMP3 that we will present in the coming months."
Atlantic Racing team manager Strackerjan added: "Our immediate goal is to provide to prospective clients a car to test, therefore getting customers into the cars and showing the reliability of the products while racing.
"Whether it's under Atlantic Racing Team or while helping our customers, we will strive for the top step of the podium. We will provide a full spectrum of dedicated services to meet and exceed our customer's expectation."
FIA CN2-spec cars will be allowed to compete in the championship this year, as a precursor to the LMP3 platform that's set to launch in 2015.
Wolf has expressed plans to build prototypes for both LMP2 and LMP3, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
About Atlantic Racing Team
Atlantic Racing Team was founded in 1989 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Atlantic Racing Team (ATL) competed in Formula Ford, Formula 2000, Formula Renault 2.0L, and various GT and Enduro series including such brands as Audi, VW and Marcos.
From 2002 to 2004, ATL competed in the North American Formula Renault Championship (Fran-Am). In 2004 ATL was a pioneer in the (later named) FBMW Americas Championship with 4 cars. ATL continued in this series until 2008 while competing in the Indy Pro Series (now Indylights), with First place and podium wins with American driver, Robbie Pecorari.
The team ventured in 2008 into the FBMW Pacific (Asia) Championship with 14 year-old American/Columbian racer Gabby Chaves and has remained in this series since then. ATL continues to be vocal in the direction of the series and it's successor – JKAS - and is an advocate for strict/fair series rules to better serve the Junior drivers that pass through junior championships. In Europe, since 2008, the team became well known in the Formula LO-Lista Series, gaining respect by scoring wins and finishing 2nd in the championship every year. The core team, a small and dedicated group, has been working together since 2002.
In 2012 ATL returned to Sedan racing with a fresh team – the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series – with 4 cars and Japanese, Malaysian, Singaporean and Australian drivers, gathering 8 first, 6 second and 3 third podium places, resulting in 2 Team and driver Championship wins.
2014 and beyond;
ATL has assembled now the finest mechanics with many years of experiences in LeMans, Renault, GT and other international race series and cars. All engineers have massive experience, looking back from the time of first data collection to the latest racing software, technology and aerodynamics knowledge. We are all prepared for the next years of racing to come! ATL is now embanking on 3 racing series in Asia; again in the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series; China Formula Masters; and the Asian LeMans Series.
