David Richert (Winnepeg, MB), has signed a contract to drive for Inter Europol Competition, a Polish backed race team operating out of Hameln, Germany.
Richert will spend the 2014 race season driving Inter Europol Competition's newly updated Formula Renault 2.0 race car at circuits throughout Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The schedule includes several races in the ultra competitive Northern European Cup (NEC) where drivers from over 26 different countries will attempt to find racing success at this international level ocompetition.
All but two of the race tracks that Richert will drive on this year are currently active Formula 1 circuits which will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience at world class facilities. From the historic German circuits at Hockenheim and Nurburgring, to the high speed straights of Monza in Italy, to screaming through the Ardennes forest at Belgium's 7km long circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, to the picturesque Red Bull Ring nestled into the Austrian Alps, this season's schedule is ripe with racing nostalgia.
"I'm excited to join Inter Europol Competition and the schedule we've put together for this year is amazing! My goal for this season is simply to gain as much experience as I possibly can and make sure that I'm in a position to advance into an even higher category of racing for 2015. I'd like to thank Inter Europol for this opportunity and for their professional attitude throughout this process." -David Richert
"We are happy to have David join our team and look forward to working together in achieving some excellent race results this season. We like the approach that David has taken towards his racing career and we think he will fit in very well with us". - Jorg Kranzfelder (Engineer at Inter Europol Competition)
Richert expects to leave for Germany by mid-March as official test sessions are set to begin by the end of the month. The schedule consists of 11 races between April and September with numerous additional test days scattered throughout the year. The first race weekend of the season will take place at Monza, Italy, from April 11th to 13th in the world class NEC championship. Richert says "It's amazing to see the enormous variety of nations that are represented in NEC and I am very fortunate to have the opportunity of representing Canada in a championship as competitive as this one."
Richert will climb into the race car for the first time on March 24th and 25th at Hockenheim, Germany for the NEC Official Test Days.
